Obligatory Update

Just wow.

I suck as a blogger. To my defense there has been so much that has happened since my last post. Where to start.

Asher Dane Odell was born on the 10th of April. He was 21" long and 8lbs and 12oz at birth. He is doing great and has started to sleep all night long. At least he has for the last couple of nights. Pics can been seen here.

Gage and Nat finished the school year and both had a birthday. Gage rolled up on five and Nat is pushing single digits at nine. The "G" is doing better in T-Ball then he did in soccer. He HATED soccer, so I guess that the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree there. Nat is Gages biggest cheerleader and her one member dance squad is something to see.

After Asher was born we have been blessed to welcome two additional members to our family. Lana and Billy have a new little boy named Liam Dean. He is such a cute baby and Lana and Billy are excellent parents. Finally, I can call myself and Uncle! Madison and Amy added the third boy to our family in the short five week span. Brycen McClain Odell was born on the 17th of May. He has a TON of hair and is long and skinny. We were able to make a trip to CO last week and got to see the little guy. So both Asher and Brycen were able to hang out for a few hours!

Robyn has made a decision to postpone her dog showing until after the kids get older. This is probably a good decision, because of all the logistics involved with three kids, work, and all of my crap that I have going on. So look out in eighteen or so years, because I am sure that she will be back in the game.

I have been reelected to the Board of Directors of Kiowa District Hospital for another three year term. Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Depends on who you ask and what is important to them. I truly believe that it is for the best. Time will tell of course, but I am committed to seeing this "thing" through. I am still on the KTIA Board of Directors and our annual meeting is coming up in June. I am up for reelection on that Board too. I hope that I get the nod for that organization too. It is an excellent networking tool for my carrer.

Speaking of carrer, things are prety good at work. We have finalized two very important projects over the last couple of months. ML phase II, III, and V. This was a very successful project for us and very important to me. I spent quite a bit of time tracking and being involved in the project. Next was our first tactical overbuild in Pratt. We spent a few months putting FTTH in the Pratt Airport area and from every indication, we have been successful. We are working on the next phases of our buildout and our looking towards Oklahoma to finalize our FTTH buildout in our ILEC. All of this is scheduled to get started in the last quarter of 2009.

School is good. Not great, but good. I have been working for several semsters now and have made significant progress. I have taken a little detour though. I felt it was necessary for me to educate myself in the ways of the account. So I have taken Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and will take one more accounting class in the fall. It isn't all bad, but I don't know if I could do it all day every day. I might go crazy. I still see the benefit of finish up and plan to get started on my Masters as soon as I complete my Bachelors degree. All to make myself more marketable.

Speaking of school, I had to use a facebook group for one of my classes. I must tell you that I absolutley did not want to sign up for this damn service. I did not want to drink the kool-aid and was raging against the machine on this....I did not want to be one of the sheep! Well guess what.....BAA...BAA....I did it. It is pretty decent and have been able to reconnect with several classmates and old friends.

Lastly, I must tell you that I am not pleased with the direction of our country. From my perspective, we are being led down the path of Socialism and I am not optimistic of the future. I think that O(WTF)bama is taking us down his vision for the future and I truly think that he believes it is the right way to go. I just don't share his vision of the future. I don't think Government should be shareholders in the Automotive Industry, Finance Industry, Housing Industry, or Healthcare Industry. What is next? Where will it stop? Will my sons be forced into an occupation? Will his future be decided by others? I fear not for me, but for them! Do we want truly want this? I for one do not. I want to see GM fail, I want to see Freddie Mac fail, I want to see the gigantic corporation fail. Not because I want America to suffer or for that matter the rest of the world, but becuase I think that it is important to remember that the strong survive and the weak or stupid perish. I realize that almost every industry receives some milk from the government teet, but I don't think that our government should own portions (if not the majority) of the companies.

Next, I think that giving the enemy combatants of Gitmo the rights of citizens of the United States of America is absurd. Why would we mirandize these shitbirds? Holy crap, I can't believe I have to get angry about this shit! Why give them a trial in the US. Military Tribunal and let the pieces fall where they will. We could do what those shitbirds would do if they captured one of our GI's. But we are a kinder gentler nation aren't we?

Finally, good job O(WTF)bama. Iran should be allowed to pursue Nuclear Power. Providing of course they allow inspectors in and provide all information about the nuclear program. Yeah right, like we haven't seen faked documents, feet dragging, and other attempts at misdirection from those douch nozzles. I really can't get on board with the actions of O(WTF)bama. I hope that his first four years is his last four years at the helm of this Once and Future great nation. Oh, and we are a great nation, not a good nation, not an equal nation, but a GREAT nation.

I will leave you with this....I feel like this is important. It doesn't touch on what I am really trying to get across, but I like it.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. - Ben Franklin

If This List Doesn't Piss You Off....

....then I don't know what will.

I have been watching with nervous anticipation what the next federal bailout will look like. I have some research left to do, but here is a list of what got cut. There are some areas that really hit home for me. Like this.

2 Billion For Broadband Completley Eliminated WTF!. Last time I checked the United States had fallen to 15th in the world for Broadband access. JFC, what is it going to take to get this issue addressed? This would help everyone. From the most urban areas to the extreme rural! Does anyone really think that this Internet fad is going to blow over? Fuck No! In fact, the consumers are going to demand faster and faster speeds! I know that in ten years I have seen Dial-up, DSL, and T1's go by the wayside in favor of FTTH connections. How are we going to pay for these connection now? Guess we will just have to overspend, cook the books, turn a blind eye to the warning signs, and apply for a Goddamn Federal Bailout!

2 Billion For Health Information Technology Grants Completley Eliminated. I have also seen first hand how antiquated some of our hospitals medical records are. Electronic Medical Records seem like the only natural solution to this problem. However, it seems like this will have to wait now. What about an modern method of dispensing drugs? Nope. Sorry. Not this time. In some of our rural areas we will still have to rely on people reading doctor's orders and trying to interpret that effed up hand writing.

I am looking across the Internet for a list of programs that were funded in this latest bailout and as soon as I find a list I will post it for your viewing displeasure.

Christmas Shopping 2008

We just got done with our Christmas shopping for this year and I must say what a breeze. We did all of our shopping online again this year and like last year, what a breeze. I just can't get into that whole "wake up at the butt crack of dawn" to go stand in a line for 3 hours to save .03 cents on a toy.

Today we put up the tree and worked on the decorations for the house. Gage and Nat are so excited and they can't wait for Christmas! I will post some pics as they open their gifts.

A Few Items

First.

For some reason, blogger and I aren't getting along. I have tried to post some pictures of the Sonogram that we got a week ago, but blogger no likey. So for those of you who don't know, we are going to be having a boy in April and I couldn't be happier. We have some names picked out, but really haven't settled on one. So, once I get my image issue worked out, you can see some pics.

Second.

My guy didn't win on the 4th of November, but I really *hope* things get better for the rest of the country. Things aren't bad for me or my family and I am grateful for that. I have a great job, great family, and what's on the horizon is even better. But I do realize that there are other portions of the country hurtin' for certain. So, I hope Obama has his shit together and I hope he starts leaning a little more to the middle.

Last.

Work is really busy. We have several large projects in different phases of completion. The new CO is coming along, Sharon and Hazelton FTTH projects are nearing the end. We have a great shot at getting USD 254 and TPB LAN projects which would be sweet! I have been trying to spend more time working on the business rather than in the business. So all is good there.

So as soon as I get my fight with blogger worked out, some pics....but till then just check out my pics page to the right. Finally, Lakers look sweet this year. I am going to try and make it to OKC and watch them play the Thunder.

Eight Days Out

I really haven't weighed in on the upcoming election yet, but I am planning on voting for McCain. I really don't feel like his policies are another eight years of GWB and I am concerned about his attitude towards USF reform, but I think he is the best candidate out there.

What does scare me is Obama's attitude towards economic success and his "spread the wealth" comments. I think it is entirely possible that he would try some type of sweeping tax reform that would take (punish) my success and help the chuckle-head down the street. Whether that be in some type of social program or public works, the money has to come from somewhere.

So I know that KS will carry McCain, that means that my vote won't matter much, but I hope that someone in Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Colorado, or New Mexico reads this and listens to the YouTube clip.
